Middle school

The goal of the Middle School Guidance Program is to assist students in achieving their academic, social, and personal potential at Institut de La Tour.  Some of the programs established include the 6ème Classroom Guidance Presentations, Individual Counseling, New Students Groups, and the New Student Mentoring Program.  These programs have been established to provide students with strong decision-making skills, tips on how to problem solve, personal and social awareness, useful study and test-taking techniques, academic/personal/social assistance, and to assist new students in their transition to the school.  These programs have been put into place to provide a more structured and comfortable environment that is conducive to learning.

6éme Classroom Guidance Presentations

  • Students who are currently in the Anglophone Section at La Tour are selected to be mentors to new students who are entering the school. The role of the mentor is to establish a relationship with the new student, go over their class schedule, provide a tour of the building, and to introduce him/her to current students both during class pauses and lunch.  The goal of the mentor is assist new students in making a smooth transition to the school.

New Student Groups

  • New students entering the Anglophone Section at Institut de la Tour meet two times a month in groups to discuss their transition experience.  The groups are established to promote a comfortable environment in which students can openly discuss their transition experience and to obtain helpful academic and social tips and strategies to make a sound adjustment to the school.

Individual Counseling

  • Students are able to set up appointments with the middle school counselor to receive guidance in academic, social, and personal areas.  Both long-term and short-term counseling is provided.
